Who likes it? How did you get into it? Do you like the old or new types or both? Do you perform the genre? What instrument do you play? What subgenres do you like as a performer and/or fan?

Who is simply wanting to explore the possibility of being a fan and/or performer?
 
Modern country is fairly popular within my friend group. I haven’t really gotten into it but don’t mind most songs and will listen
 
I like Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakum. I don't like the new country, unless it's progressive country that's not played that much. Anyway, that's not saying I like all old country.
 
Even though I grew up in the country, I was never really into it. I preferred light 80’s rock. Though I do appreciate some country songs & singers out there. When I was a teen, I had a penpal (pre-internet days!) who was from Tennessee, USA so she got me into more country music when I visited her.

Some new country is more sincere like that coming from Morgan Wallen, but it's not the norm. Of course, aside from Wallen and maybe a few others, such performers are not getting airplay, perhaps even audiences also don't like them; I don't know.
